Grand Prize Winner - Darryl Shelly
Grand Prize Winner
Darryl Shelly
Congratulations to Darryl Shelly, the Grand Prize winner of Digital Photo Pro’s Ultimate Creativity Photo Contest. Choosing a winner was tough as we received thousands of unique and inspiring entries. As the winner, Shelly will receive a 24-inch iMac or $1,500, a Tamrac 3385 Speed Pack and a Duggal 16x24 print of his winning photo. Taken during a photo shoot to create artwork for an independent film, this image is all about lighting. Shot in a studio using Hensel strobes with various modifiers attached, Shelly says he made a point of slightly overexposing to add some punch to the highlights. His lighting setup consisted of a main strobe with a large softbox set at a 45º angle to the left of the camera. For fill light, an octabox was positioned above and behind the camera. A kicker light was placed to the right of the camera and behind the subject to add some edgy highlights to the shadows. Canon EOS 5D, Canon EF 135mm ƒ/2L USM, Tamron AF28-75mm F/2.8
